10/21 Wreck-It Ralph Disney Parks Blog Event, Screening at Downtown Disney Draws Large Crowd

Hi everyone!

The Disney Parks Blog hosted a Wreck-It-Ralph meet yesterday! The event started at DisneyQuest, where we were able to try out Fix It Felix Jr. game, followed by a screening of the film.

This article won't include a review of the film. I normally would have attended a media screening for it, and I'm going to adhere to the media date for reviews. I will say that I did enjoy the movie! And we weren't able to have our cameras with us, or I'd have taken photos when Wreck-It Ralph himself showed up briefly before the film started. He and Vanellope von Schweetz will be greeting guests at Disney's Hollywood Studios soon, we always look forward to new characters in the parks! Back in August, we shared with you photos and video of the Wreck-It Ralph concept art at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Back to the event…we signed up about 10 days ago, we've not yet been to a Disney Parks Blog meet-up that we didn't enjoy. This one was no exception.

We arrived at 8:45 a.m., and there was a pretty long line to get in. It seemed that everything moved pretty quickly, especially since I was told that they expected 1000 guests! There were 3 screening times – 11:00 a.m., 11:15 a.m., and 11:30 a.m. Each guest was given a colored wristband. Ours was the pink Vanellope wristband, though it was actually red (the two colors had been switched around accidentally). Our movie time was 11:30 a.m, allowing us over 2 hours inside of DisneyQuest. We do get DisneyQuest as part of our Premier Pass, but haven't been in ages! I need to get back there soon to get my Galaga fix. 🙂

We were given a souvenir Wreck-It Ralph medal and tattoo:

There was a large Wreck-It Ralph figure inside of DisneyQuest to pose with.

The Fix It Felix Jr. game was surprisingly fun, I haven't played it online yet. I didn't quite understand how it worked at first, why Felix would take a hammer to the window to fix it. 🙂 But we'll be back to play again! Of course, it was a lot easier to understand the concept once we saw the film.

Apparently there was something to do with Legos as well, but we ended up sitting with friends for an hour or so before we left (and didn't see it).

We did splurge on a Wreck-It Ralph cupcake while there. Surprisingly, the cake part is red velvet – it doesn't look like it from the outside, does it? It was good, although our group couldn't decide if the top tasted like a Heath Bar or Butterfinger. I don't eat either, so I had no input on that. Disney cupcakes are hit-or-miss for me (especially with Sweet by Holly in Orlando being within striking distance), but I thought this one was a hit.

And on we went to the Downtown Disney AMC Theaters for Wreck-It Ralph in 3D – without cameras.

We will be discussing the event as part of our Mousesteps Weekly YouTube Show, which should be up Tuesday! That link goes to our Mousesteps Weekly playlist.

Thanks to the Disney Parks Blog for the fun event! Wreck-It Ralph bows in theaters on November 2nd, and we'll have a review of it just before that. We'll also be covering Wreck-It Ralph and Vanellope von Schweetz's debut at Disney's Hollywood Studios.
