6/4 Snow White’s Scary Adventures – Final Night at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom

Hi everyone!

We were there for the final night of Snow White’s Scary Adventures, the dark ride which opened in 1971. It was disappointing to see an original ride – and one of the Magic Kingdom’s only dark rides – close forever. I first rode the attraction in 1976, but it was very different at that time. In 1994, Snow White’s Scary Adventures was remodeled – with less of the witch, and the guest was no longer Snow White (Snow White was then added in various scenes).

If you’d like to watch a ride-through from 1991, we have it on our Mousesteps Weekly, Episode 4 show!

The line looked longer than it actually was on the final night, we rode 3 times with about a 15-20 minute wait time.

Even the Evil Queen showed up to say goodbye to Snow White:

Several friends joined us for our final ride:

I took flash photos in two out of our three rides, just as nearly everyone else was that night.

There was a special moment at the end of the night. Ben, an autistic young man who had racked up 3500 visits to Snow White’s Scary Adventures, was the last rider. This had been decided well before, and everyone clapped for him as he got in and out of the ride vehicle. Ben’s family actually moved to Florida a number of years ago to be closer to Walt Disney World, as it helped his progression. Snow White’s Scary Adventures was his favorite ride. You can read Ben’s fathers blog here to learn more about Ben!

We have a video of the final night here

I’m looking forward to the new Fantasyland – I think it’s going to be pretty incredible! But, I do wish this historic attraction could have been saved to be part of it. I’m glad we were there for the last night.
