3/30 Sunshine Tree Terrace Rehab Complete, John Lasseter in the Magic Kingdom
Hi everyone!
Today we were at Disney's Polynesian Resort to work on my next photo walk – and as requested, we'll have a video walk too! We ran too late for the Epcot plant seminar, so we headed over to the Magic Kingdom for a couple of hours.
After this article, check out our Avengers monorail photos and video!
Not long after we arrived, we ran into a friend of ours who said he'd heard that John Lasseter was in the park. We didn't think much about it – not only was it a busy day, but it's also a big park. We pretty much forgot all about it until later.
Here are just a few of the photos that will be in the Polynesian Resort Photo Walk:
The Magic Kingdom was really busy today:
Daytime fireworks along with beautiful spring flowers:
There is a new Sunshine Tree Terrace sign, with a bonus Orange Bird behind the sun! The rehab is done and looks great.
While I was waiting in line for a Citrus Swirl, Jeff recognized someone he knew and went to say hi. Next to him was – John Lasseter. There were also several Imagineers, a couple whom we spoke with. I took just a few photos of John Lasseter, two that I'm sharing (in addition to our personal ones with him) because I liked that he used a Lightning McQueen card to play Sorcerers with! He seemed to really enjoy this popular game!
Here is a crop showing Lightning McQueen closer (any closer and the photo got too small).
We debated asking for a photo. Normally we shy away from doing anything like that – but Jeff really wanted me to have one. I've had the wonderful opportunity to meet many Disney creative legends in the last few years, and sometimes interview them (my favorite interviews being from Don Hahn, who is incredibly warm and gracious). I would put John Lasseter in that same camp. He stuck out his hand, said "Hi, I'm John" – then proceeded to take out his Lightning McQueen card for the photo. And I'd not go into that much detail, except- he's not only over-the-top talented (and a tremendous asset to the Disney company), but a nice guy. And I like that.
And there is a new Orange Bird shirt! I hear wallets emptying out even quicker now, with all the great shirts that have come out.
I wasn't expecting to have an update today, but that was our day! This weekend will be more for decompressing after an extremely busy week and sifting through thousands of photos I've taken this week (including the Polynesian Resort for the photo walk).
