2/27 Universal Studios Update: Lorax Meet and Greet, Spiderman, Mini-Golf Nearly Ready to Open

Hi everyone!

A friend of ours sent some photos from his Universal Studios visit today – including of the Lorax meet-and-greet at the main Universal Studios Orlando park and Hollywood Drive-In Golf at City Walk!

The Lorax is making meet & greet appearances next to the Horror Makeup show. The Universal Cartoon Store in Woody Woodpecker's KidZone is being transformed into the Spongebob Squarepants Store, which should open this Spring.

 

 

 

 

At Islands of Adventure, the LED dot-matrix wait time signs have been replaced with flatscreen monitors (pictured are examples from Jurassic Park and Marvel Super Hero Island). The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man is closed for the final part of the upgrade process, which also involves a sprucing up of the dimensional Spider-Man cutout on the attraction marquee. A new prop vehicle, an "armored car" carrying gold coins for the "Pineapple Bank" sits outside of the Islands of Adventure Trading Co. in Port of Entry.

 

 

 

Hollywood Drive-In Golf is almost ready to open. Part of the "Invaders from Planet Putt" course involves a "secret government installation" which includes a storage building housing two crates. One is marked "Ark" (a reference to Raiders of the Lost Ark) and one is marked "Project Weather Balloon" (a reference to the alleged UFO crash in Roswell, NM):
