Mickey’s Backyard BBQ Review, Fort Wilderness (Halloween Night 2011)

Just a couple of minutes after the conga line photos, everyone was leaving. We had a great time, but it was a surprisingly abrupt end to the evening. I took a few photos before a manager told us that all the characters were lined up outside. Everyone at our table (including our table neighbors) laughed, knowing they wanted everyone out quickly.

All in all, we had a fantastic evening. This was a special Halloween version of the Backyard BBQ, and I would do it again in a heartbeat if we had the same discount. Everyone around us seemed to be having a great time, and the character interaction was very high. Mickey's Backyard BBQ is a seasonal event that runs much of the year (Thursdays and Saturdays from March through December).  It can be canceled for inclement weather, unlike the Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue (my favorite dinner show).

Mickey's Backyard BBQ currently costs $54.99 for guests 10 and up, and $31.99 for ages 3-9. If I was to spend that much money on the BBQ, I'd prefer to go on a holiday where special music and characters might make an appearance. In addition, around Halloween and Christmas there are beautiful displays at the campsites, and it's even easier to make a nice evening out of it. We enjoyed the fantastic Halloween Golf Cart Parade, Mickey's Backyard BBQ, HalloWishes, the Electrical Water Pageant and then checked out a few more campsites that we'd not seen the previous day.  And during much of the year, the Wagon Rides are a nice and inexpensive activity, located just a few minutes away from the Fort Wilderness pavilion.
