Epcot International Food and Wine Festival 2011 – Photos and Food Reviews
Our friend got the Escargot Persillade en Brioche in France. She's had them before and recommends this offering. I am not an adventurous eater, and have never tried snails. She said that I could do what one guest said he did – just swallow them, but we both agreed it didn't seem worth buying just to swallow. That led to a joke where we said we could use the bread bowls as pill pockets…:)
We didn't try anything in Belgium or Portugal:
I used to purchase the Beef Kefta Pocket at Morocco several times during the Festival. Now at $5.00, it's really out of budget for me. We had a great Beef Kefta at the Paradise Garden Grille at Disney California Adventure in August, which was a dish big enough to split for the two of us. This is one item I need to learn to make myself! Morocco used to have a wonderful green mint tea at their Food and Wine Festival booth, and I actually buy green mint tea year round due to that.
I did try the Mohua Central Otaga Riesling for $3.50 at New Zealand. I found it a little strong for a Riesling – I prefer a lighter flavor.
We skipped Japan:
The Beef Rendang in Singapore sounded wonderful, so we tried that next. I loved the flavor, but it is VERY spicy. I don't really do spicy food normally – mild to medium is fine, but this took a few minutes to lose the heat. The rice was slightly overcooked. I plan to find a recipe and lighten it up a bit, as the coconut and beef were perfect together.
There is a Pumpkin Spice Funnel Cake at the stand outside the America Pavilion:
Jeff picked up a Sam Adams Festival Beer at Hops and Barley. There usually is a trio of beers available for a lower price than 3 separate, but not here (there are several locations that do have it).
