8/16 Downtown Disney Photo Update – Magnetron Closing, Apricot Lane, Pavement Work at Marketplace
Hi everyone!
A friend sent me some photos from Downtown Disney (along with some text information) that I’m combining what I’ve taken over the last week.
While I was driving past Downtown Disney today, I noticed a big Cirque Du Soleil sign that I’ve never seen on the building before. The paint job at the AMC Theaters also looks pretty new.
Photos of pavement replacement in the Marketplace and the “grassy knoll” on Pleasure Island:
Apricot Lane opened on Saturday in the space most recently occupied by Harley Davidson Orlando before they moved to the West Side.
Magnetron will close Sept 30. It will be replaced with BLINK by Wet Seal, a ladies denim & accessory store. Lefty’s The Left Handed Store is operated by Magnetron, so they will probably also be closing at the end of September.
Downtown Disney has two special entertainment offerings this week. Duncan Yo-Yo pros will demonstrate tricks at Once Upon a Toy from 3pm-10pm on Thursday 8/18 & Friday 8/19. They will be performing on the Waterside Stage at 7:30pm, 8:30pm, and 9:30pm both nights.
The Yow Dance Company will be performing modern dance on Wed 8/17 and Sat 8/20. At 8pm & 10pm they will perform on the lawn in front of Bongos. At 9pm they will perform on the Waterside Stage.
Curl by Sammy Duvall sells Toms shoes. If you buy Toms at Curl, you can have them custom painted by artists on staff. The customization ranges in price based on how intricate the design is. The flower design pictured is a $20 job and the “Rapunzel & Flynn” design is around $40. Toms shoes donates a pair of shoes to a child in need for each pair that you purchase. http://www.toms.com/
It looks like there is roof work being done:
Thanks to SB for many of the photos and information here!
I have one short update left before finishing my packing for the D23 Expo! I hope to see many of you there.
