5/19 Magic Kingdom/ Fantasyland Construction Update Walt Disney World
We have had two server changes recently (there will be another one in the next few months), and an upgrade to the new Joomla version is imminent as well. While there haven't been many site outages, my updates have been fewer than usual. That will be changing soon! We went to the Magic Kingdom a few days back, and took photos around the park – mostly of the Fantasyland construction.
I wrote less than usual, this has been a very busy time (tonight we are going to the Star Tours meet-up at midnight, possibly followed by Star Tours Grand Opening in the morning).
Tony's Town Square Restaurant:
At D23's Destination D, we were told about Joan – who has been with the park since the beginning, mostly working in the area that is now the Town Square Theater/Tony's Town Square Restaurant. She gets offers for her Lady and the Tramp bow tie all the time, so we did what the Imagineers (at D23) said, to offer her $100 for the bow tie. She laughed at that, we weren't the first to find her:
An area roped off in the Confectionery:
Heading into Fantasyland:

The back of Cinderella Castle now is free of the facade:
Here are a variety of photos of Fantasyland, including the rock work that is taking shape, as well as the Little Mermaid building. We are looking forward to seeing the Little Mermaid in Disney's California Adventure this summer! Last September, we were able to preview set pieces from the new attraction (as well as some from Cars Land), it's very exciting to see what is happening here and in California.
