Downtown Disney Christmas Decorations from December 17th, 2010
Hi everyone!
I’m continuing coverage of the holidays around Walt Disney World with a look at Downtown Disney (I already did an update that includes a Pleasure Island construction update)! There is much that is the same as in previous years, though I didn’t see the set of holiday displays celebrating a variety of cultures that is normally in the Portobello Restaurant area.
Interested in other holiday blog posts from this year? I have these so far:
Magic Kingdom Christmas Decorations
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party
Disney’s Hollywood Studios Christmas Decorations
Epcot Christmas/Holidays Around the World
Gaylord Palms ICE! (off-property)
Beach Club, Yacht Club and Boardwalk Resort Displays
Happy Holidays at the Marketplace:
We walked to and into Goofy’s Candy Kitchen. There are still things I learn new about Walt Disney World, even going there as much as 150 times per year for photos. In this case (a week ago), friends showed us the create-your-own-baked goods, mostly cookies. We had a gingerbread man, with cinnamon sugar, chocolate and drizzled with chocolate. The items are made for you, after filling out a form with what you want on it. I’ll take some photos next time we do it! It’s not a fast process, the cookies even had to be refrigerated for a few minutes (and the one our friend’s ordered broke – so it took even more time). But if you have 10 or so minutes, it’s well worth it!
It looks like winter:

More photos, including an impromptu caroling session by what appeared to be a high school chorus, Epic Mickey ad and decorations inside Trend-E:
Santa Mickey at the top of the fountain.
Santa’s chalet and Santa.

Inside Raglan Road:
We walked down to the West Side, and found the Dickens Carolers. I took a few pictures at night too – there were even stiltwalkers dressed as elves!
We are planning to get more photos and video around the Magic Kingdom resorts over the next few days, and I wanted to get a little video at the Swan and Dolphin before putting photos up.
