11/28 New AMC Theater Concession, Downtown Disney (with new Freestyle Coke Machines)
There is a bar upstairs and one downstairs. I had heard they had a "Harry Potter" menu and asked to see it. We checked it out, then were about to leave when the bartenders said they could make a butterbeer too. We've never been to Universal since the new Harry Potter addition, so we took them up on it. Of course, it won't be the exact recipe and includes Schnapps – but it was fun to say we had our first butterbeer on Disney property! The bar is pretty stocked, and they are very strict with ID's and how many drinks can be served per person. I hope they keep it this way. We were given blue wristbands since we were drinking (after checking our ID's), but we were told they were even supposed to check ID's after you get your wristband if ordering another drink.
We split one butterbeer drink, which was plenty for us (it cost $9.00 plus tax/tip).
A few photos from upstairs after we were finished. We were told the outside seating area might open up again:
Next spring, some of the Downtown Disney screens will be offering "Fork and Screen" experience, where guests will be served food at their seats (it will cost an additional fee for the movie, given back in credit for food). This is to be the first AMC "Fork and Screen" in Florida. I wasn't really knowing what to expect from the new concession area, but I really like the changes already made! I am disappointed that we'll be losing 4 screens in the process (from 24 to 20), but am looking forward to seeing the upcoming additions.
