4/2 Richard Petty Drive-Along, Walt Disney World Speedway
Hi everyone!
There are few places I've not been at Walt Disney World – and in the past week I've been to two of them. First, I visited Blizzard Beach – which is even more nicely themed than I expected. Then on March 31st, we went to the Walt Disney World Speedway for the drive-along offered to Annual Passholders. March 31st was the last day available for the free offer! We have short video clips of the cars here!
Arriving at the Speedway, it feels much more desolate than the location near the Magic Kingdom suggests:
After walking in the main entrance, you'll see that about half of the room is a gift shop and the rest is dedicated to getting riders ready for their experience. The shop had some good deals while we were there, including 2-4-$10.00 t-shirts that they were clearancing out.
An employee has each guest sign a waiver. We were told that the Annual Passholder offer had been very successful, with brisk attendance the last couple of months.
We wore a flash drive until it was time to ride, I think it was to store our ride video:

This was a touching letter written by a widow who lost her husband in Iraq – but before that, he'd had the time of his life racing at the Speedway:
