2/9 Universal Orlando VIP Tour
Jeff and I had been admonished over the loudspeaker for taking photos, so I took a few and stopped.
We then walked towards Dueling Dragons. I rode one side, but was not quite ready to tackle the other so quickly, so several of us hung out while everyone else rode again.
Jim had handed me his notebook while he rode, I told him that I took a photo with his "Book of Universal Secrets". 🙂
We then visited one of the Universal soundstages, and learned that they had 9 of them (ranging from 9000 to 22,000 square feet). They even have air conditioning, which is more unusual – there are breezeways outside the soundstages, which can help chill the air down as low as 32 degrees. The stages are 98% soundproof. 2 are currently being used for the Blue Man Group.
We walked through the administration building, which includes a prosthetics/makup lab and a screening room. I hadn't remembered that some of Disney's animators went to Universal, forming Project Firefly Animation Studios .
We then went to do the Twister attraction, and Jim gave us a bit of trivia on the actors:
We then rode The Mummy, which is always fun!
There were signs of Mardi Gras in this area (which I'd never been to before):
None of us had been to DISASTER, so that was our next stop.
