The end of my tour (before I watched the second):
I had such a great time on this tour! As I mentioned, it's in a test phase – so they do need to fill the slots, and get good feedback. Everyone on the two tours seemed to really enjoy it – and I found the Segway easy to maneuver. The only part that made me nervous, a couple of times I felt I was going too fast (at 4 or 5mph!)- and I had to remember to set my heels back a bit. That got me back on track.
The tours allow for up to 10 guests at a time, age 16 and up. The weight limit is 250 pounds. The price is currently $65.00, no discounts (about the same price as a discounted Segway tour at Epcot). The one downside for me on Segway is my feet go numb very quickly (from standing in one place). The bumpier the ride, the less I had a problem with this! I give the tour a 10 of 10, I definitely would do it again! Fort Wilderness is one of my very favorite places to walk and spend time, this is a great addition to the resort.
Thank you to Robert and Ron if you read this! Guides make a big difference in how the tour goes, and the tour was really pulled-together well for being so new. I also asked if possibly the Segways could be rented by guests – but that doesn't seem like something that will happen. The Segways can be dangerous if not used correctly (just as anything can be), and I know that they also want to make sure that young kids aren't riding around on them.
