Downtown Disney Construction and Parking Changes in Preparation for Disney Springs
Hi everyone!
We were at Downtown Disney today and took some photos & video of the construction walls on Pleasure Island, along with the parking lot. Large sections of the parking lot are now closed to guests in preparation for parking garages as part of the Disney Springs expansion. A friend who works at Downtown Disney told us that there would be overflow parking, but I highly recommend shopping and dining early in the day when possible if parking a car.
We parked on the West Side, where maybe half of the parking lot was closed. Imagineers were out, along with construction workers. I think we arrived at 10:30am or so, and there were tons of spots available – that wouldn’t be the same later in the day.
Here is our video of the construction today!
We haven’t been to Pleasure Island since the walls went up – here are some photos of what Pleasure Island looked like today.
This is near Cirque du Soleil:
Disney Springs is due to open in stages, and should fully be open in 2016. I am looking forward to seeing it when it’s finished, but parking will be challenging for a while. I am hoping that the parking garages will greatly alleviate the parking issues, it’s often hard to find a spot during busy evenings (except usually behind Cirque).
