Review: Disney Junior Character Breakfast on the Disney Fantasy 7 Night Cruise

In January, we sailed the Disney Fantasy for a 7 night Western Caribbean Cruise – it was also the first Star Wars Day at Sea, which was what my main goal was as far as articles. But I’ve found there is not a lot of information and quite a bit of interest in the Disney Junior Character Breakfast. From what I can find online, this is a breakfast that is only on 7 night cruises, and on sea days. I don’t think it ran on our cruise on the day of Star Wars Day at Sea. It also wasn’t something I knew about ahead of time. It seems it began as a test about a year ago, and has ran ever since. I wouldn’t expect it on your cruise just in case (of disappointment), but check your navigator when arriving at the port to see if it is running. Tickets are needed, just as they are for the princess meet and greet. We then went to Guest Relations and booked it.

Our reservation was for the first day the breakfast was available. I believe our time was for 9:00 a.m., give or take a half hour. We lined up at Animator’s Palate, and were soon ushered into the restaurant.

The menu is listed outside, and the names of the food items are themed to Disney Junior. The items themselves are not. For example, I had the Meeska Mooska Mickey Waffle, a “Junior Favorite”. It was a Mickey waffle, just like any other I’ve had before.

There aren’t Disney Junior decorations, but you can see show elements on the screens. I wish there were some themed napkins or table arrangements (like the Dr. Seuss Green Eggs and Ham character breakfast on Carnival Cruise Line), but this breakfast didn’t cost anything once onboard – so I can’t quibble too much. I appreciate that it is included in the cruise price.

The characters came around once while we were there. Our whole experience was probably about 45 minutes, it is a quick one – but it enough time to see all the characters and eat. Jake was up first.

Next, Sofia arrived to the table.

We had our photo taken with the characters. There were other adult-only tables, as well as many families.

Doc McStuffins came around with her stethescope.

Because I knew nothing about the breakfast, I wasn’t expecting Mickey to show up.  I considered it a fun bonus.

It’s not too often you can meet Mickey on the ship without a wait.

I went with a dish that I knew, and that was the Mickey waffles. It came with a side of fruit. I consider Disney Cruise Line food hit-or-miss, so this was an easy choice.

Jeff had the “Yo Ho, Let’s Go”, with scrambled eggs, ham and pineapple. It was decent.

I definitely would recommend the Disney Junior Character Breakfast if your family enjoys the Disney Junior characters. It was a nice experience. I supplemented my waffles with some fresh fruit afterwards at the buffet, which is the great thing about a cruise.
